The talented, Nashville based musician, Andrew Ripp, asked me to come take some photos of him for his upcoming album. This shoot ended up being quite the challenge because we only had about an hour of daylight left when we started shooting, but it forced me to think outside the box. I also think it gave the final images a very diverse look for Andrew to pull from. I shot color and black and white film using natural light, an off camera strobe and an on camera flash which really changed up the vibe from image to image. I also incorporated some “toy” cameras like the Holga and the Lomo to drive home the gritty look in some images, but I also shot with my beautiful Rolleiflex, Contax and Leica to capture the more crisp images with deep colors. Overall, I loved how these turned out!
